LTC Site Evaluation Presentation Summary

On the site evaluations for this rotation, I presented 3 H&Ps/cases, 1 related journal article, and 10 drugs frequently seen in the geriatric population. I learned so much from the feedback I received during these meetings. Through the suggestions given by my professor, I realized that you often have to think “outside the box” to come up with recommendations for some patients in the geriatric population. For example, one of the cases I presented involved an elderly woman who complained of unintentional weight loss and decreased appetite, possibly due to worsening depression. My professor proposed having the patient join a senior lunch program or having her daughter join her during meals, as many times the elderly do not eat when they are alone. These ideas are a few of many that I would not have thought of, so the feedback here was overall very helpful and much appreciated.
